SEPTEMBER PICKLEBALL IS IN FULL SWING!

We’re officially halfway through September, and the courts are BUSY!

Our fall leagues are underway, weekly drop-ins are running, and we’re less than two weeks away from our 2nd Annual Charity Team Tournament at Cross Court Dartmouth.

There’s lots happening, so here’s what you need to know this week!

TOMORROW IS THE LAST DAY TO REGISTER!

2ND ANNUAL CHARITY TEAM TOURNAMENT

September 26 & 27 | Cross Court Dartmouth

If you’ve been thinking about putting a team together, now is the time!

Registration closes TOMORROW, September 15.

Our Charity Team Tournament in support of the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation is an MILP-style team event with teams of four competing in:

DUPR 12 Max

DUPR 14 Max

DUPR 16 Max

DUPR 18 Max

DUPR 18 Min

You do NOT have to be a regular Cross Court player to participate.

Grab your friends, coworkers, family or regular pickleball crew and build a team!

One player registers the entire team, and we’ll contact you afterward to confirm your roster and division.

NEED HELP BUILDING A TEAM?

Want to play but don’t have four players yet?

Post in our Facebook group with your level and let everyone know you’re looking for a team!

There may be other players in the exact same situation looking for someone at your level.

PAY OR FUNDRAISE: YOUR CHOICE!

Teams have two options to participate.

Pay the $280 team registration fee, or fundraise in support of the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation.

Teams choosing the fundraising option have until September 15 to reach the $300 fundraising goal.

Raise $300 and your tournament registration is covered!

If your team raises less than $300, you simply pay the difference.

Every dollar raised through fundraising goes toward the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation.

We’ll also have prizes, door prizes and a special prize for the team that raises the most money!

FALL LEAGUES ARE UNDERWAY!

Our September leagues have officially started, and it’s great seeing the courts filled with league play again!

A reminder to please double-check your schedule each week and arrive a few minutes early so your group can get started on time.

If you’re unable to attend one week, finding a substitute is the responsibility of the player who will be away.

Please remember that all substitutes must have an active Cross Court membership in order to participate in a league. This includes a Casual, Serious or Pro membership.

Post in the Cross Court Facebook group as early as possible when you know you need a sub, and make sure the person you find is within the appropriate level for your league.

Not currently playing in a league? Keep an eye on the group! If you’re a Cross Court member, subbing is a great way to get some extra games in.

MORE SEPTEMBER LEAGUES ARE STILL TO COME!

Not everything started last week!

We still have a few September leagues coming up.

NEW TO PICKLEBALL?

We all know someone who has been saying, “I really need to try pickleball!”

WANT TO IMPROVE YOUR GAME?

Playing more pickleball is fun, but sometimes improving means slowing things down and actually working on the shots that give you trouble.

Our Skills & Drills sessions focus on technique, consistency, positioning, shot selection, strategy, dinks, resets and more.

Tuesdays | 5:00 PM

DARTMOUTH

Wednesdays | 9:00 AM

Register through Mindbody or our website to reserve your spot.

Email info@crosscourtpickleball.ca to arrange a lesson.

A QUICK FACILITY REMINDER

Please help us take care of our facilities and equipment.

If you notice something that doesn’t look right, equipment that has been damaged or an issue within the facility, please let us know rather than trying to adjust or repair it yourself.

And another reminder: please do not touch, move, adjust or unplug the camera in the table tennis room.

It needs to remain exactly where it has been positioned.

Thank you!

TIP OF THE WEEK

Stop trying to win every point with one shot.

One of the biggest differences as players improve is patience.

You don’t need to hit a winner every time the ball comes your way.

Sometimes the best shot is simply one that keeps your opponents uncomfortable and gives your team a better opportunity on the next ball.

Keep the ball low, make your opponents move and wait for the attackable ball.

You don’t have to create the winner immediately. Sometimes you just need to create the opportunity for it.

DID YOU KNOW?

A lot of pickleball errors happen before the paddle ever touches the ball.

Poor positioning can turn an otherwise easy shot into a difficult one.

After you hit, think about where you need to be for the NEXT ball rather than standing and watching your shot.

Recovering your position quickly gives you more time, better balance and more options when the ball comes back.

Good footwork isn’t always about moving faster. It’s about being in the right place sooner.

SEE YOU ON THE COURTS!

September is shaping up to be a busy month at Cross Court.

Our leagues are rolling, drop-ins are happening throughout the week, new players are learning the game, and our Charity Team Tournament is right around the corner.

And if you’re planning to play in the tournament, don’t forget:

TOMORROW, SEPTEMBER 15 IS THE LAST DAY TO REGISTER!

We can’t wait to see everyone out on the courts this week!
