CAN’T MAKE YOUR LEAGUE? FIND A SUB!
Now that leagues are starting, please remember that finding a substitute is the responsibility of the player who can’t attend.
If you know you’ll be away, try to find your sub as early as possible rather than waiting until the day of your league.
Our Cross Court Facebook group is a great place to post when you need someone.
And if you’re not currently registered in a league but would like some extra pickleball, keep an eye out for sub requests!
CHARITY TEAM TOURNAMENT IS GETTING CLOSER!
September 26–27 | Cross Court Dartmouth
We’re just a few weeks away from our 2nd Annual Charity Team Tournament in support of the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation!
This is an MILP-style team event with teams of four competing in:
DUPR 12 Max
DUPR 14 Max
DUPR 16 Max
DUPR 18 Max
DUPR 18 Min
DUPR RATED
You don’t have to be a regular Cross Court player to participate. Grab your friends, family, coworkers or regular pickleball crew and put together a team!
One player registers the entire team, and we’ll contact you afterward for your roster information.
FUNDRAISING DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 15
Teams participating through the fundraising option have until September 15 to reach the $300 fundraising goal.
Raise $300 and your tournament registration is covered!
If your team doesn’t quite reach the $300 goal, you simply pay the remaining balance.
Prefer not to fundraise? Teams can register by paying the $280 team registration fee.
Every dollar raised through fundraising goes toward the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation.
We’ll also have prizes, door prizes and a special prize for the team that raises the most money!

A QUICK REMINDER ABOUT COURT BOOKINGS
With fall programming getting busier, please remember that membership booking privileges apply to the individual member.
If you’re booking multiple courts for a group, each court must have an eligible member to receive that member rate.
Please make sure your bookings follow your membership privileges so we can keep court access fair for everyone.
PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH THE CAMERA IN THE TABLE TENNIS ROOM
We’re repeating this one because it’s important!
Please do not touch, move, adjust or unplug the camera located in the table tennis room.
The camera has been positioned where it needs to be and needs to remain exactly where it is.
Thank you for helping us keep facility equipment where it belongs.

Sometimes a little individual attention can make a huge difference.
Private lessons can focus specifically on the areas of your game you want to improve.
1 player | $60/hour
2 players | $40/hour each
3–4 players | $30/hour each
Email info@crosscourtpickleball.ca to arrange a lesson.
TIP OF THE WEEK
Get to the kitchen line, but don’t rush getting there.
We all hear how important it is to get to the kitchen, but that doesn’t mean you should sprint forward after every third shot.
If your shot is high and your opponents are preparing to attack, stop and get ready to defend.
Move forward when your team hits a shot that gives you the opportunity to advance safely.
Sometimes reaching the kitchen takes one shot. Sometimes it takes three or four.
The goal isn’t to get there first. The goal is to get there in control.
DID YOU KNOW?
The middle of the court causes more confusion than almost anywhere else.
When a ball comes between two players, hesitation can turn an easy return into a missed shot.
Communication helps, but so does deciding ahead of time how your team will handle balls through the middle.
Talk to your partner before the game. A simple plan can prevent a lot of those awkward moments where both players either swing or neither one does!
A BUSY WEEK AHEAD!
This is one of those weeks we love seeing at Cross Court.
Fall leagues are kicking off, drop-ins are happening throughout the week, lessons and programming are running, and our Charity Team Tournament is getting closer.
Good luck to everyone starting a new league this week!
We’re excited to have the courts busy again and can’t wait to see you out there.
See you on the courts!
