CHARITY TEAM TOURNAMENT: GET YOUR TEAM TOGETHER!

September 26–27 | Cross Court Dartmouth

Our 2nd Annual Charity Team Tournament in support of the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation is coming up this month!

This is an MILP-style team event with teams of four competing in:

DUPR 12 Max

DUPR 14 Max

DUPR 16 Max

DUPR 18 Max

DUPR 18 Min

DUPR RATED

And remember, this tournament isn’t just for current Cross Court players!

Grab your coworkers, friends, family or regular pickleball crew and put together a team. Local businesses and organizations are also encouraged to create a team and join us for the weekend.

One player registers the entire team, and we’ll contact you afterward to confirm your roster and division.

PAY OR FUNDRAISE: YOUR CHOICE!

Teams have two options for registration.

You can simply pay the $280 team registration fee and you’re all set.

OR

If your team chose the fundraising option, you can raise $300 for the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation and have your tournament registration covered.

Teams fundraising for their entry now have until September 15 to reach the $300 goal. If your team doesn’t quite reach $300, you’ll simply pay the remaining balance out of pocket.

Every dollar raised supports the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation, so we’d love to see our teams get creative, share their fundraising pages and help us make this year’s event even bigger.

There will also be prizes, door prizes and a special prize for the team that raises the most money!

FINDING A SUB? PLEASE PLAN AHEAD!

With fall leagues starting this week, this is an important reminder for all league players.

If you know you’re going to miss a week, please make every effort to find a substitute ahead of time.

When one person is missing, it can affect the entire group and the amount of play everyone receives.

The Cross Court Facebook group is a great place to post when you’re looking for someone to fill in.

If you’re available to sub, keep an eye on the group too! It’s a great way to get some extra games in without committing to another full league.

SKILLS & DRILLS

Playing games is fun, but sometimes the quickest way to improve is to stop playing points and actually work on the shots giving you trouble.

Skills & Drills gives you dedicated time to work on technique, consistency, positioning, strategy and shot selection.

BEDFORD

Tuesdays | 5:00 PM

DARTMOUTH

Wednesdays | 9:00 AM

Register through Mindbody to reserve your spot or HERE!

PRIVATE LESSONS

Looking for more individual attention?

Private lessons can be tailored to exactly what you want to improve, including serves, returns, dinks, resets, positioning, strategy, shot selection and overall consistency.

1 player | $60/hour

2 players | $40/hour each

3–4 players | $30/hour each

Email info@crosscourtpickleball.ca to arrange a lesson.

TIP OF THE WEEK

Stop trying to win every point with one shot.

One of the biggest differences as players improve is patience.

You don’t need to hit the perfect winner every time the ball comes to you. Sometimes the best shot is simply one that keeps your opponents uncomfortable and gives you a better opportunity on the next ball.

Keep the ball low, make your opponents move and wait for the attackable ball.

Winning the point on shot number eight counts exactly the same as winning it on shot number three!

DID YOU KNOW?

Your serve doesn’t need to be powerful to be effective.

A consistent deep serve can be much more difficult to deal with than a hard serve that regularly lands short or goes out.

Depth pushes the returning player farther behind the baseline and can make their return more difficult, giving your team more time to prepare for the third shot.

Before worrying about adding more power, work on consistently getting your serve deep.

HELLO, SEPTEMBER!

September is shaping up to be a great month at Cross Court.

Our leagues are getting underway, drop-ins are running throughout the week, courts are available to book and our Charity Team Tournament is just a few weeks away.

We’re looking forward to seeing familiar faces back into their fall routines and hopefully welcoming plenty of new ones too.

See you on the courts!
