Happy New Year from Cross Court Pickleball!

As we welcome 2025, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our members for playing and supporting Cross Court Pickleball this past year. Together, we’ve built a fun, kind, and thriving pickleball community.

Kindness Comes First

At Cross Court, kindness is at the heart of everything we do. Let’s continue to make our community amazing by:

  • Getting off the court 3 minutes before the next booking.

  • Treating teammates and opponents kindly in your words and actions.

  • Keeping our facilities tidy, as we rely on our members to help maintain the space.

With so many new members, we encourage everyone to visit the FAQ page on our website to stay up to speed on how things run.

Ladder League Reminders

We love seeing the enthusiasm for our ladder leagues!

While entering scores is a free service (in that we did not increase the cost of the league when we began using dupr), it’s a challenging process, especially with paper schedules. If we can’t read a name or only have a first name, the games that player participated in won’t be credited for anyone involved. With your cooperation, we can maximize game entries!

To help us maintain accuracy when entering DUPR scores, please:

  • Fill out each sheet with your full name, exactly as it appears in DUPR.

  • Use clear handwriting to ensure all games can be logged.

New Leagues Starting Soon

We’re excited to announce two new leagues in Dartmouth:

  • Wednesday Women’s Novice (5 PM) – Starting January 8

  • Monday Teams 3.0+ (7 PM) – Starting January 13

Stay Fit and Injury-Free with Spring Physiotherapy

This Week's Tip: Preventing Wrist Injuries for Pickleball Players

Wrist strength and flexibility are essential for control and power during play. Here are two simple exercises:

  1. Wrist Curls: Hold a light dumbbell or water bottle in one hand, palm facing up. Rest your forearm on a table or your knee and curl your wrist upward. Slowly lower it back down. Do 15 repetitions on each wrist.

  2. Wrist Extensions: Similar to wrist curls, but with your palm facing downward. Lift the back of your hand toward the ceiling and lower it slowly. Do 15 repetitions on each wrist.

If you're having trouble with your wrist(s), a physiotherapist can help you figure out how to get back to playing comfortably. Book your appointment by emailing admin@springphysio.ca or calling  902-453-1525 extension 2.

Thank You for Spreading Kindness This Holiday Season

Seasons Greetings and a big 'Thank You' to Steve & Deanna for letting us use their facilities to spread kindness this 2024 season. With the generourosity and kindness of the members in both locations; Bedford and Cole Harbour, we were able to fill our Rav 4 with all your food donations, plus $100.00 cash and drop them off to the Beacon House! THANKS EVERYONE! - Cindy O’Leary

Here’s to an exciting 2025 filled with fun, kindness, and plenty of pickleball!
