LEAGUE PLAYERS: PLEASE REMEMBER YOUR SUBS!
Fall leagues are starting soon, so here’s an important reminder for everyone joining us.
If you know you’re going to miss one of your league weeks, please make every effort to find a substitute.
A missing player affects everyone on the court, so finding a sub helps keep games balanced and ensures everyone gets the amount of play they signed up for.
The Cross Court Facebook group is a great place to post when you need someone to fill in.
Thank you for helping our leagues run smoothly!
TIP OF THE WEEK
Get to the kitchen, but don’t rush getting there.
Yes, getting to the kitchen line is important, but charging forward no matter what ball is coming back can put you in trouble.
If your third shot is high, stay back and prepare for the attack.
If your shot gives you an opportunity to move forward safely, take it.
Sometimes you’ll reach the kitchen in one move. Other times it may take two or three shots.
The goal isn’t to get there first. The goal is to get there under control.
DID YOU KNOW?
The middle ball isn’t automatically the forehand player’s ball!
Who should take it can depend on positioning, which player is under less pressure, where your opponents are and what shot each player can hit effectively.
Good partners talk about these situations before and during games.
A quick conversation about who takes the middle can save a lot of those awkward moments where both players swing… or neither one does!
SEPTEMBER IS ALMOST HERE!
We’re excited to head into another busy fall season with all of you.
Whether you’re joining a league, coming to a drop-in, booking courts with friends, working on your game or getting ready for the Charity Team Tournament, there are plenty of reasons to get on the court.
Keep an eye on our Facebook page and your email for new programming, events and announcements.
See you on the courts!
